Upon arriving in California from the Midwest nearly 30 years ago, I realized that I was, at last, home. The nearly constant blue skies, the lack of humidity and ‘nature’s air conditioning’ at night were what I loved most. Add to that the ability to grow almost anything I desired, the beauty of the surrounding hills and mountains, and the proximity to the SF Bay, I believed I had found heaven.
I used my Marketing/Management degree at the University of California at Berkeley Extension working for many years in continuing education and in the corporate world as Director of Marketing in conference planning. After an illness forced me to take an extended leave I found solace, comfort and healing in my own garden. It was after this that I pursued a degree in Horticulture and Landscape Design and found the “field of my dreams.”
As President of the East Bay District of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers®, I have had the good fortune to meet and learn from hundreds of equally dedicated designers, teachers and speakers in my field. I am dedicated to continued learning, since landscape design, like a garden, is a constantly changing and evolving practice.
I believe that a landscape design should be a collaborative process and I work closely with each client. I will bring creativity, knowledge and experience to your project and will always go the extra mile to make sure that your garden is one that you will be proud of and comfortable in for many years. I truly believe, “If my clients aren’t happy then the job isn’t finished.”
